Annual Physical Examination

Starting with puppy and kitten visits, our focus is on preventing disease and keeping your companion as healthy as possible. Regular physical examinations are extremely important for maintaining a healthy and happy pet.

Geriatric Examination

Dogs and cats age 5-7 years for each “human” year. Beginning at about age 7, your pet enters his or her senior years. At this point, disease common to “seniors” begin to develop – diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and cancer to name a few.

These diseases can go unnoticed in their early stages, therefore, preventive health care is very important. We recommend complete physical examinations twice a year, so that we may be able to detect any problems in their early stages, when it is still treatable. At the time of the geriatric exam, our veterinary staff may recommend blood work, radiographs(x-rays) or other diagnostics.

Our goal is to keep your pet as healthy and happy as possible at all stages of their life.

Vaccinations

Our vaccine series are tailored to each individual patient. We follow the most current guidelines of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). We also take into account your pet’s lifestyle when customizing their vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

Vaccinations are safe, effective and well worth the financial commitment. Many diseases that were once considered deadly to dogs and cats, are now under control due to the use of vaccines. Our veterinary staff will discuss with you which vaccines are recommended for your pet.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm prevention should be given on a continuing basis, year round. Heartgard Plus, Sentinel and Revolution provide protection against intestinal parasites, as well as against heartworm disease. Sentinel also protects against fleas. Revolution is a topical that also protects against fleas and ticks.
Heartworm prevention is very important for our feline patients, also. The first sign of heartworm disease in the cat can be sudden death. We carry a once-a-month heartworm prevention, which is easy to administer. Please ask about it at your next visit.

Flea and Tick Control

Fleas and ticks can cause blood loss and the spread of serious diseases in pet animals. We have safe and easy products that are applied once monthly to protect your pets from these parasites. Please ask our staff about products available to keep your pets protected.
